Getting to Spain
As you may have known, me and my wife took a trip to Spain. I mentioned in an article before that we booked a United flight I booked it on Avianca LifeMiles. Sometime in the fall I believe it was in October, Citi Thank You points had a 25% bonus to LifeMiles. My home airport is Nashville (BNA) andwe booked Nashville (BNA) to Washington Dulles (IAD) then onto Madrid (MAD). If you were to book it without a bonus it would have been 30k points each way per person or 120k for both of us round trip. However with the bonus I only had to use 96k points and some taxes and fees.
Mistakes Made
One think I did wrong is that not knowing that there is $25 booking fee and I decided to book us seperatly on tickets and each way so I spent $100 in booking fees and I did not realize about the booking fee but overall it was a great deal.
Travel Day
I booked the first flight out of the morning going to Dulles and we had several hours before our flight to Madrid. We got delayed for a little bit but we still arrived in Madrid ahead of schedule. Customs wasn’t too long of a wait but after being up for so many hours we were ready to keep going on our journey. Overall, it was went pretty well.
Next post I will talk about our train journey to Seville.
